Mini golf party

What it is

A homemade crazy golf course. Each hole uses objects from around the house - drainpipes, books, buckets, cardboard boxes - and players compete over nine holes. Works in a garden, or indoors through the hallway and rooms.

Plan ahead

• One week before: buy or borrow putters and coloured balls. Collect materials for holes.
• The day before: build and test each hole. Number them with flags made from straws and paper.

Hole ideas

1. The tunnel: through a cardboard box with an arched door.
2. The ramp: up a book ramp into a bucket.
3. The drainpipe: through a length of drainpipe.
4. The windmill: a spinning cardboard blade.
5. The water hazard: a tray of water to avoid.
6. The maze: a route made from bricks or wood.
7. The cup run: knock the ball between a slalom of plastic cups.
8. The bounce: off a wall into the hole.
9. The volcano: up a mound into a hole in the top.

Food and drink

• Clubhouse snacks: sausage rolls, sandwiches, crisps
• “Golf ball” cake pops
• Iced tea and lemonade

Tips

• Use a “maximum six shots” rule per hole to keep it moving.
• Mix ages in each group.
