What it is
A sweet summer party built around a build-your-own sundae bar. Simple to host, loved by every age, and you can hire an ice cream van for the wow factor.
Plan ahead
- One week before: buy ice cream (allow 3 scoops per person), sauces, toppings and bowls.
- The day before: put ice cream in a deep freezer if you have one, and make brownies to crumble.
Sundae bar
- Flavours: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mint chocolate chip, a dairy-free option
- Sauces: hot fudge, caramel, strawberry
- Toppings: sprinkles, crushed biscuits, brownies, marshmallows, nuts (labelled), chopped fruit, wafers, cherries, whipped cream
Games
- Pin the cherry on the sundae.
- Cone relay: carry a pom-pom “scoop” in a cone to the finish.
- Sundae contest: prizes for tallest and most creative.
Tips
- Keep ice cream tubs in a cool box with ice until serving.
- Scoop ahead into a tray and refreeze for a big group.
