What it is
A day at a go-kart track. The track provides karts, helmets, marshals and timing, and runs a mini grand prix with qualifying and a podium. One of the most exciting parties for older kids, teens and adults (and popular for stag days and office events).
Plan ahead
- Four to six weeks before: book a party or grand prix package. Check minimum ages and heights - often 8+ for junior karts.
- Two weeks before: collect signed consent forms for under-18s.
- The day before: confirm numbers and bring closed shoes and long trousers.
On the day
- Briefing: marshals explain flags and safety. Listen carefully.
- Qualifying: fastest lap times set the grid.
- Grand prix: a timed race; results printed out.
- Podium: top three on the podium with trophies.
Food and drink
- Many tracks have a café; otherwise plan pizza back home
- Sports drinks and water
- A chequered flag cake
Tips
- Ask for printed lap times - teens love comparing.
- Bring trophies for “most improved” and “best overtake” too.
On the day
- Arrival (20 min): sign-in, race suits, helmets and safety briefing.
- Practice laps (10 min).
- Qualifying (10 min): lap times decide grid positions.
- Grand prix (15 min).
- Podium and champagne-style spray (10 min) with sparkling juice.
- Food at the track café or back home (40 min).
