What it is
A dance teacher comes to your home or a hired hall and teaches the group a routine to a chosen song: pop, street dance, a musical number or a viral dance. At the end, the group performs for parents and you film it as a keepsake. A similar session works for a hen party with a different song.
Plan ahead
- Four weeks before: book a teacher and agree the style and song. Hire a hall with a wooden floor if your living room is small.
- One week before: send the song to guests so they can listen.
- On the day: clear the space and set up a speaker and a phone on a tripod.
Activities
Warm-up games
Freeze dance, “follow the leader” and stretching.
Learning the routine
The teacher teaches 8 counts at a time, then joins them together.
Performance
Seat parents in rows; dim the lights and add a spotlight. Film it and share it with everyone.
