What it is
A cosy pyjama party in the run-up to Christmas. Children arrive in festive pyjamas, get a golden ticket to board the “Christmas Express” (the living room), drink hot chocolate and watch a Christmas film. Can be a short evening or a sleepover.
Plan ahead
- Two weeks before: pick a Christmas film suitable for all ages. Print golden tickets.
- One week before: buy hot chocolate supplies and a small sleigh bell for each child.
- The day before: build a duvet den in front of the TV.
Activities
Boarding the express
A grown-up dressed as the conductor punches each ticket. Chairs in rows like a train.
Hot chocolate bar
Warm (not hot) chocolate, squirty cream, marshmallows, sprinkles and candy canes to stir.
Crafts
Decorate a clear plastic bauble with glitter and stickers, or fold and cut paper snowflakes.
The bell
At the end, each child gets a bell “from Santa’s sleigh” to keep.
