What it is

The ultimate hot-day party. Water balloons, blasters, sprinklers and a slip and slide. Nothing to clean up except wet towels.

Plan ahead

  • The morning of: fill buckets of water balloons and freeze ice lollies.
  • Check the weather forecast and have a backup date.

Activities

  • Balloon toss: pairs throw a water balloon back and forth, stepping back each time.
  • Water blaster battle: two teams, refill buckets, freeze-and-refill breaks.
  • Sprinkler course: run through the sprinkler, under a pool noodle arch, over the slip and slide.
  • Sponge relay: fill a bucket using only a sponge.

Food and drink

  • Watermelon slices
  • Sandwiches and crisps in the shade
  • Ice lollies and squash
  • A cake decorated like a swimming pool
