What it is

Somewhere fun and safe for teens to go after prom. Parents host a late-night party with food, music and a photo booth, and agree pick-ups or a sleepover. It keeps the celebration going while knowing everyone is safe.

Plan ahead

  • Four weeks before: talk to other parents, agree on rules (no alcohol, pick-up times) and share your address and phone number.
  • Two weeks before: book a food truck or plan pizza delivery; set up a photo booth.
  • The day before: prepare a changing room and storage for dresses and suits.

Set the scene

Fairy lights, a photo backdrop with props, LED lights on the dance floor, and a mocktail bar with fun names.

Activities

  • Photo booth with an instant camera
  • Dance floor with a teen-approved playlist
  • Karaoke
  • Cup pong with water

Food and drink

  • Pizza, fries, sliders or a taco truck
  • Mocktail bar and soft drinks
  • Pancakes or waffles at 2am

Tips

  • Have a clear “no alcohol” rule and an adult present at all times.
  • Collect a list of parents’ phone numbers.

On the day

  1. 11:00pm Arrival from prom: change into comfy clothes.
  2. 11:15pm Photo booth and mocktail bar.
  3. 11:30pm Late-night food: pizza, fries or a food truck.
  4. 12:15am Dance floor and games (karaoke, beer-free pong with water).
  5. 2:00am Pancakes or pick-ups; sleepover for those staying.
