What it is

A calm baby shower where the mum-to-be and her friends are pampered. A mobile therapist gives mini treatments, there’s a mask bar and a lovely lunch. Perfect for someone who’d rather relax than play games.

Plan ahead

  • Three weeks before: book a mobile therapist who is qualified in pregnancy treatments.
  • One week before: buy robes or ask guests to bring a dressing gown, plus masks and nail polish.
  • The day before: set up a treatment corner with a comfy chair and towels.

Activities

  • Mini treatments: 10-15 minute hand or foot massages; 30 minutes for the mum-to-be.
  • Face mask bar: sheet masks or clay masks with cucumber slices.
  • Advice cards: guests write their best tips for the new parent.

Food and drink

  • Light lunch: salads, quiche, wraps and fruit
  • Mocktails: virgin mojitos, sparkling elderflower
  • Herbal teas

Tips

  • Avoid essential oils that aren’t pregnancy-safe; ask the therapist.
  • Give the mum-to-be the comfiest seat.

On the day

  1. Arrival (20 min): robes, slippers and a mocktail.
  2. Treatments (60 min): a therapist gives each guest a short hand or foot massage; the mum-to-be gets the longest.
  3. Face mask bar (20 min).
  4. Lunch (40 min).
  5. Gifts and advice cards (30 min).
